Hi Kathleen I’m not too sure to be honest, if you’re experiencing some hair loss through medication then you would not want to increase it by vigorously massaging your head. I would try the rest of the tips and perhaps a more gentler scalp massage?

Generally a good quality haircare product will suffice when following these types, just make sure you use the right amount and give your hair a cold blast of water after washing.

Hi my name’s Jamee, I’m a 17 year old girl who just graduated from high school. When growing up I was never told of the bad damaging affects of dying my hair so I did it for many years and now for the past 3 years my hair has only grown 2 inches and either breaks off or falls out. My hair has become very very thin and I now wear hair extensions everyday because of the insecurity I feel. I wash my hair in cold water and have used different techniques while washing, none have helped. I’m scared I’ll have to wear a wig when I’m older, and having to buy extensions and take care of them has become such a hassle. I feel like because I dyed my hair so much, it did something to my roots and I don’t know what to do. However, I do not have a very good eating diet and would like tips on that. Hi Siana, great questions. From what I know and have read, the scalp massage helps increase blood circulation to the hair follicles. The pressure applies warms the skin and open up the blood vessels to increase flow and boost circulation, but the results are diminished if this is done every day. It should be done in short bursts – for example for seven day then break for 3 weeks – if you want to see rapid growth. If you perform scalp massage every day then I don’t think this will damage your hair particularly, but it may encourage hairs to fall out depending how vigorously you massage your scalp. Hello, I have been struggling with my hair for about 4 months now. Back in May I had decided to go back to my natural hair color from being platinum blonde. My natural is an ashy dark dirty blonde. Unfortunately doing it at home was my first mistake, and I ended up with red hair. I went to my old high school which has a salon with students working in it, which was my second mistake. They got my hair to a more manageable color but cut off around 3-4 inches when I only wanted 1 inch off. I was devastated.. and my hair was very very dry and thin and lifeless everywhere except about 5 inches on the top of my head. Since then I have added a lot more blonde highlights to get closer to my natural color as it wasn’t going a weird orange red color from the previous red dye. It has gotten a lot more moisturized and feels much less dry since then, but regardless is still very stringy and lifeless looking and very hard to style and maintain volume. The natural state of my hair has never been very volumous , but when I had bleached it the texture changed and it felt a lot thicker. I desperately want that hair back but cannot bleach my hair in this state.. so the only thing I can really do is grow it all out again till I have my natural 100% hair back to bleach it again , with caution to have minimal damage. I have been taking hairbrush vitamins, a b-complex vitamin, as well as trying to drink more water and eat more of the right foods. I’ve also recently started doing a castor oil and coconut oil leave in treatment, which has made it feel stronger. Do you have any advice for me? I am just so desperate to feel some weight to my hair.. it feels like air when I move my head back and forth and doesn’t even feel like it’s there. I also have parts on the top of my head on the right side that got burned off from bleaching back in January this year, they have grown about 6 inches out now but look very odd and stick out unless I straighten them with light heat. I don’t straighten any other parts of my hair anymore as I used to every day and that definitely contributed to the damage I face now. Hi Julia, sorry to hear that. For the time being I would try not to concentrate on hair growth and more about treating your hair well and getting it back to good health. I would eat plenty of protein-rich foods, treat your hair to a weekly hair mask on the ends and gentle scalp massage. Try not to use any heated tools on your hair, and wash it using lukewarm water – avoid burning hot water – and your hair should be feeling better soon.

Hi Whitney. I’m so sorry you’re having problems with your hair – we can all relate! You say it breaks off, in which case you might actually NEED a haircut. This will keep it healthy and prevent it from splitting. With regards to other solutions, have you tried any hair treatments? LUSH have some great ones, and there are also hundreds online you can make at home? It sounds to me like your hair is not necessarily struggling to grow, but is unhealthy and therefore you are losing length and fullness. I hope these tips help 🙂
I am dealing with hairline close to my forehead the hair just isn’t wanting to grow at all. Several people have said that my hair is damaged and fried an that there is nothing that I can do; I have been eating a ton of fruits and vegetables but I haven’t noticed a difference at all what more can I do for my hair, I am open to any suggestions or ideas that might help because I have been extremely embarrassed about my hair I’ve been walking around wearing a giant black headband.
Hi Em, I can only recommend the Inversion Method which states you should massage for 7 days every 4 weeks. Scalp massage is always beneficial, but for rapid growth I think you should stick to the 7 days and see how it works for you. Cutting out heat and eating a rich protein diet will certainly help.

You cannot really stop that. You are welcome to dye your hair, though.
