“There’s something magical about it,” says Santiago. Flip your head upside down and gather your hair into a ponytail, then twist into a coil. (Need more guidance? Check out these tutorials.) Santiago seals down flyways with Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Edge Control Smoother. “It’s so amazing and works on every hair type,” she says.
Didn’t we tell you to be careful of layers? They can hurt as much as they help. Case in point: In an attempt to take out some of your massive hair’s weight and girth, a stylist chomped at your locks with one of these tools, leaving them frizzier and damaged.
Hi Katelyn.Your natural rate of hair growth will determine whether or not this will be achievable. Following our tips in the article will definitely help you speed things up a bit, and give you the best chance at getting the shoulder length hair you’re after 🙂
This look is extremely versatile and complements most face shapes well. It has lots of texture which allows it to be worn well styled or just left alone to dry. The haircut works best for someone with thicker hair and the long fringe is flattering for a prominent forehead or someone who has grey around the hairline and wants to stretch their color a little longer.
This is a great article, thank you for the additional tips. I already use a great sulfur oil from consciousessence.com that gives me about an inch growth a month so I’ll try the inversion to see if I can get even more growth 🙂 I am really excited and can’t wait to try.
Hairs are tiny shafts of a protein called keratin. They are anchored in a group of specialised cells called hair follicles, which supply oxygen and nutrients to the root (or bulb) of the hair, and lubricate the hair with an oily substance called sebum.
Topical ointments are generally for people experiencing hair loss. They may help your hair grow. Studies show that these products are effective in treating alopecia, or hair loss, and promoting hair growth:
In a study that looked at bias, Professor Cash showed people photographs of contrasting bald and hirsute men and (without mentioning their hair of lack of) asked them to rate the men for qualities such as self-assertiveness, social attractiveness, intelligence, life-success, personal likability, physical attractiveness and perceived age.

“For individuals with hair loss, treatments can be very hit and miss, there isn’t one which is universally effective. For that reason new treatments are exciting as they give people more treatment options that may be effective.
Not every time no, Anu. You can alternate the days – one day with oil, one day without and so on. Split ends – prevention is better than cure I’m afraid. Once it’s split longer than 1 cm you can hide the split with serum but it’s best to get regular trims and use a weekly moisturising treatment, avoid heat and so on.
The speed at which your hair grows can depend on two things: genetics and the shape of your follicles. Asian hair is on average the thickest and most coarse hair compared to Caucasian and African hair. Now I am of Asian descent but my mother has very thin hair while my father has very thick hair. I have a combination of both their hair so I have thick hair strands but unfortunately not much of them!
I got a pixie cut about 4 days ago and I’m regretting it so much, yes my hair is healthier but I HATE IT!!! I want it to be at least at my shoulders rn. My hair usually grows 1-1 1/2 inches a month, do u think I could double or triple that in a month. I honestly dont even want to go to school like this, Plz HELP!!!
my hair became very thin n splitends also there aftr cumng to ukraine….nw am using oil evryni8 n washing vth shampoo evry morning…my hair s growing bt very thin…hww can i increse d thicknes of my hair fstly?
Hi. I have really think hair but it’s around shoulder length. I don’t want it to get thicker but wanted it to grow out as much as possible, as soon as possible. Do these methods thicken your hair or just lengthen it?? Also how well do they work as I would really like long hair as soon as possible as having it styled soon. Thank you :))
will all of these things work well enough to get may hair 10 inches longer in less then a year? My graduation is coming next year and my hair is only up to my shoulders. i would like it to be 10 inches longer so i can make my hair style look beautiful for grad. Thank you for the tips 🙂
I had really long hair. Well back in December I cut it up to my shoulders(12in.) Got cut off. I’m in desperate need to grow it back out to its original length by May. I’ve read the article and was wondering how well it really works to try the inversion method and coconut oil works.
So I want to try the inversion method to make my hair grow longer using coconut oil, but what brand is the best to get in coconut oil? I see the brand Palmers and OGX come up a lot, which one should I choose??
Hi Lewis! Thanks for joining the discussion. I have a similar problem in that my hair at the back of my head take longer to grow than the front! I would try the inversion method and concentrate on these areas alone so you’ll be boosting the blood flow around the sides. Make sure you measure your hair before and after to see whether it’s worked on not. Remember, massage those sides every day for five minutes for seven days.
This is for ‘Rain’ You will find fenugreek seeds at any shop that sells Indian Spices. It is an essential in making curry so they sell it by the bucket load. Alternatively, look for a spice shop online. I live in Spain, and I can find it. Good luck, and try making a curry from scratch! Jenna
Not quite! Vitamin A is important and supports your overall health, which can influence the health of your hair, but it hasn’t been shown to directly influence hair thickness or growth. There’s a better option out there!
To the ladies asking about lightening your eye color–it’s not possible, don’t put anything in your eyes –or you are liable to harm them. Love the eyes you have, or invest in contact lenses to change the color of the iris, but don’t believe anyone if they tell you that you can lighten your eye color.
Hi! I recently have gotten a shoulder length hair cut and although I love it, I miss my long hair. I have been doing the inversion method for about a week and it doesn’t seem to be doing much. I hope to try and grow it 7 inches by April (it is now October.) Could I be doing something wrong? Thank you!
I would describe this look as a subtle, balayage highlighted bob. This guest had a very dark natural base, so my favorite part is that I was able to give her some dimension and lightness without taking away from her beautiful dark hair.
The color transitions from a darker root to a lighter end which allows for a long time in between coloring services, making it great for the person who can’t get into the salon very often. This look can be created with a light hold styling mousse for body and styled with a 1 1/2-inch barrel curling iron, leaving the ends out for loose lived-in curls that will last for days.
best to apply pure coconut oil almost every day in a week except a day and have a head bath , use of shampoo frequent also to be avoided it contains much of chemicals , avoid hair dryer it weakens the hair cells use egg on hair let it for sometime and rinse nothing harm using egg
You can encourage the hair to produce hair faster by massaging it regularly. Simply, you warm up coconut oil until comfortable to touch. Then, you apply it into your hair scalp and roots for about 5-10 minutes. Repeat this method once a week for a couple of months, you will notice a significant hair growth.
Hey guys, thanks for the fantastic tips in this article! I didn’t know prior to the benefits of coconut oil on hair as I found it very sticky and hard to style my hair. It was my mother who would regularly apply this on weekends I guess it was an indian practice but I’m glad that she did and now I know the benefits. I can grow 1-1.5 inches per month. I’m a vegetarian and work-out regularly so this adds on top of all this. I can safely say this DOES WORK and your eating style plays a key role in this. Thanks for sharing these tips!
i am a skin spcialist from india and i will recommend u just tu use almond oil it is verry helpful.try it u will get the best result with in a month and dont use dabar amla becouse it support only to some types of hair instade of it u can use any other amla oil.keep smiling
As we discussed earlier, hair begins to grow from the root in the bottom of the follicle which is made up of cells of protein. So to make it simple – we need to eat a protein-rich diet, but for faster hair growth you need need to be making sure you’re eating Biotin-rich foods too in order to facilitate the building blocks of protein.
mix 2 egg yolk with 1tsp honey and amla oil or Castor oil, or live oil, apply to your hair and scalp and massage it everywhere put a plastic cap and sit under a hair steamer, and leave the mixture on your head as long as you can, then Shampoo.
I had chemotherapy and radiation for tonsil cancer about 10 years ago and I can’t get my hair to grow no matter what I’ve tried. I was told to try coconut oil and a regrowth hair product. Will it work or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Like the cure for cancer, those new treatments aren’t nearly ready for prime time. But they’re coming, promises George Cotsarelis, MD, director of the Hair and Scalp Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

I always get oily, unkempt looking hair after I use coconut oil. It helps my hair but it’s awfully hard to style when you have to be out for most of the day and you still want to look acceptable. Any tips?

I’ve been searching for a hair grow vitamin from France, made with fish oils. I read that Demi Moore used it after she shaved her head for the movie G.I. Jane, and have been searching for it ever since! Can you help me find it?
I’m african and I have a 4B hair type. I”ve.seen the inversion method somewhere some time ago when i had a big chop and i’ve tried it. It really worked. I did mine for.4 minutes everyday, sometimes with coconut oil and sometimes with olive oil and i use Amla hair oil sometimes also. I grew up to 1-1.5 Inches per week. I’ve left it for a while now and i.think i’ll get back to it asap. Thanks for this post Anu
My hair is so thin, it’s embarrassing!! I have a bunch of split ends, it’s frizzy, and WAY TOO THIN! I condition it everytime I wash it, (which at the most is every other day, i know that’s bad), I hardly ever use heat, seriously like NEVER! I always just put it in a braid or a ponytail. But it’s just too thin. What REALLY works? And what is the routine and details that I should use?
Thank you so much for sharing your method, My hair had cut very short and I am very up-sad now. So i want to try your method as far as possible. It compulsory to eat egg for hair growth because I am veg. I even notice my friends who love egg and she eat many. I notice her hair is growing very fast. Mind was just opposite to her. Thank you
Hi Jennie, really sorry to hear about your experience. It can be terribly upsetting, but I would use a moisturising hair mask every week to get it back to good health. Make sure you eat a good healthy diet (you can find details in the article) and use just lukewarm water to wash your hair. I wouldn’t recommend hair massage if your hair is falling out at the moment, when it has had time to recover you can try a gentle scalp massage in the shower when you’re shampooing – that would be a good start. I hope this helps, but if you’re at all worried please visit your nearest hair salon to seek professional advice.
If the smell of Johnson’s No More Tangles triggers PTSD flashbacks to your childhood, you know what’s up. Thick hair means knots that are tied with Boy Scout–level strength. Forcing a comb or paddle brush through it is time-consuming and hair-ruining.
