Their treatments also include laser-hair therapy, which combines drug therapy with low-level lasers to halt hair-loss and stimulate regrowth. A course of combined therapy can cost around €1,500 but the system claims a high success rate, especially when hair loss is tackled at an earlier stage in younger men.
Hi there, it’s really up to you. When I apply coconut oil and do the inversion method I do wash my hair every day, but if you don’t like doing this then you can use the oil only before days you wash your hair. I hope that makes sense!
My experience using coconut oil is really good, I just love it! It’s just soo mositurizing and conditioning I apply it twice a week and my hair is perfect and very healthy. But only applying oils wont help if we also eat healthy food that will help us alot more! Like foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, ex: Flaxseed. Foods also rich in Vitamin B6 and B7 are good for hair and vitamin E and C for strong hair!
Jamee, The best things you can do for healthy hair is eliminating junk food, processed (packaged) foods and eating organic as much as possible, exercising regularly, and drinking lots of pure water. Going natural with beauty products and cleaning products will also help. But these suggestions will also do so very much more than just give you healthy hair. Another very important aspect is the law of attraction. If you fear your will lose your hair, the universe will make that fear a reality. Instead, focus on gratitude for the hair you do have, and how all the improvements you are making are creating the best person you can possibly be. Going natural is always best. Hope this helps and good luck!
Hi Laura, put your head forwards and tip it so your head is quite low to the ground. You can also do this while sitting down. If you start to feel unwell or dizzy at any point then slowly come back up.
Hi Laurie, thanks for your questions! Really happy to hear you are going to try the method. There are different ways you can do the inversion method. You can apply the coconut oil to dry, unwashed hair in the evening, leave it on overnight with a cap then wash it out in the morning. If you don’t want to wash your hair every day then you can alternate with the inversion method – one day with oil, one day without and so on. You can even do the inversion method without the oil – or just use the oil once a week. It’s completely up to you. There is no real difference between extra virgin and virgin coconut oil, as far as I am aware – this seems to be just a marketing ploy by companies, but I could be wrong. Thanks for the comments on the article, I’m really pleased you like it. I have written the article purely based on my own personal experience and my hair loss experience and journey. I can’t promise it will work for everyone, but I just wanted to share what did work for me – after years of trial and error! I am impressed with how young people say you look… please feel free to share your secret! I swear by coconut oil and face massage, but those wrinkles around the eyes just keep on comin’!

In a study that looked at bias, Professor Cash showed people photographs of contrasting bald and hirsute men and (without mentioning their hair of lack of) asked them to rate the men for qualities such as self-assertiveness, social attractiveness, intelligence, life-success, personal likability, physical attractiveness and perceived age.

Thanks for the comments! Happy to hear you like the blog post. Coconut oil is fantastic, I love it for many uses. Make sure you check out my article on the other uses – https://experthometips.com/21-clever-uses-for-coconut-oil-that-may-surprise-you
Most of the factors that control hair growth are out of our day-to-day control. The best step you can take is to prevent hair loss and thinning due to poor nutrition. Be sure to eat a balanced diet and stay hydrated. Check in with your doctor if you feel that you are experiencing significant hair loss.
It’s also important to note that if you are experiencing unexplained and severe hair loss, you should schedule a checkup with your doctor, as certain illnesses and health conditions can cause hair loss.
Current treatments for hair loss are limited to two FDA-approved drugs, minoxidil and finasteride, which have mixed results. The other option is minimally invasive hair transplant surgery. In the U.S., there are around 50 million men and 30 million women affected by hair loss, which U.K.-based researchers said could be a source of “psychological distress.”
Not necessarily. It depends how tightly you tie it. If it is a very tight bun, then it may pull on the strands of hair and cause them to fall out, but if it is loose, then it will not do that and may even protect your hair. Also, it can add slight waves to your hair, which will help make your hair look thicker.

Hi Rebecca SO pleased that you’ve benefitted from the tips in the article! I can’t recommend both coconut oil and scalp massage enough – they work absolute wonders for your hair health. So happy for you, just a bit of commitment and you really can see an improvement. Thanks for leaving such a lengthy comment, really made my day and I will try the mask with yogurt and honey too. All the best with your hair journey! Anushka
Hair follows a specific growth cycle with three distinct and concurrent phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen phases. Each phase has specific characteristics that determine the length of the hair. All three phases occur simultaneously; one strand of hair may be in the anagen phase, while another is in the telogen phase.
Correct! While a hair relaxer will straighten curly hair, it will not do anything for thinning hair. In fact, a relaxer could further damage your hair, especially if the product contains lye! Read on for another quiz question.
Hi, I cut my hair REALLY short almost two years ago and I’m desperate for it to grow back. My goal is to have hair that passes my hips. Right now it’s at my mid/lower back and really is in that awkward stage of short/long. How do I make it grow to my hips by summer?
I used eggs, and it really worked.first my hairs were so thin and weak so I was so sad but when I started using eggs with 2or3tablespoons of olive oil it worked,I continued the coarse for 2months and it was a miracle!!!!!
You can encourage the hair to produce hair faster by massaging it regularly. Simply, you warm up coconut oil until comfortable to touch. Then, you apply it into your hair scalp and roots for about 5-10 minutes. Repeat this method once a week for a couple of months, you will notice a significant hair growth.
On the 20th of December 2017, I was playing with my short, dried hair (which was on average 1 inch) in the front of my head but I accidentally tangled it so bad that I had to cut it off with a pair of stationnary scissors. It is very noticeable when I have a high ponytail but you can’t see it when I have a low ponytail when it is split down the middle. Luckily it’s quite small (2.5cmx1.5cm) but I’m scared that it might not grow back. Do you think it will grow back and if so, what do you recommend for my hair?
A team of researchers at Yale University in the US began conducting trials of JAK Inhibitors on patients suffering from severe plaque psoriasis (a chronic autoimmune condition that causes patches of thick, scaly skin) in 2014.
After treating hair with CsA, the scientists analyzed the gene expressions of isolated human scalp hair follicles. They found that CsA changed how the follicles expressed a protein called SFRP1, which stunts the development and growth of hair follicles and other tissues in the body.
The color transitions from a darker root to a lighter end which allows for a long time in between coloring services, making it great for the person who can’t get into the salon very often. This look can be created with a light hold styling mousse for body and styled with a 1 1/2-inch barrel curling iron, leaving the ends out for loose lived-in curls that will last for days.

Human hair follicles are very sensitive to the effects of radiation therapy administered to the head, most commonly used to treat cancerous growths within the brain. Hair shedding may start as soon as two weeks after the first dose of radiation and will continue for a couple of weeks. Hair follicles typically enter the resting telogen phase and regrowth should commence 2.5 to 3 months after the hair begins to shed. Regrowth may be sparser after treatment.
In news that will be mostly of no use to anyone but ennui-ridden middle-aged men now contemplating their lost youth in the wake of their own fading good looks, it looks like a potential cure for baldness has been found. Scientists from the University of Manchester used a drug originally intended to treat osteoporosis on samples containing scalp hair follicles from more than 40 male hair-transplant patients, and found that the drug had a impressive effect on hair follicles, reviving their ability to grow.
At any one time, about 90% of the hair on a person’s scalp is growing. Each follicle has its own life cycle that can be influenced by age, disease, and a wide variety of other factors. This life cycle is divided into three phases:
Hi there…sorry to hear that! I like to alternate with the oils. I wash my hair every other day, so when I’m not washing my hair I do the inversion method without any oil and then when I am washing my hair the next morning I will use coconut oil when massaging and leave it overnight. You can adapt the method to suit your needs, for example if you only wash your hair once a week then you can use coconut oil just once, but still do the inversion the rest of the days without oil. I hope that makes sense!
Cheering and waving British flags for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, crowds gathered outside the ancient walls of Windsor Castle for a Royal wedding that supporters hope will help recast the 1,000-year-old monarchy for the 21st century.
Hi Nalanie. We’re happy to hear you’ll be giving the inversion mehtod a go, and thank you for your question. The inversion method should be done for 1 week, with 2 weeks break, then repeated. I hope this helps 🙂
The other currently approved drug for hair loss is Propecia (generic name, finasteride). It works only for men. Why? It keeps the male sex hormone testosterone from forming its DHT by-product. DHT signals shorten the growth phase — and lengthen the rest stage — of hormone-sensitive follicles.
Nothing but a wig would improve the condition of my thinning hair after a major illness some years ago, but the Tea Tree Shampoo is the best shampoo so far (and I’ve tried quite a few). I’ve been using this shampoo for about a month now and am really pleased with the results. Even my hairdresser commented last week that my hair was looking better than it has for a while and asked what product I was using. It’s packed full of essential oils so the smell is unbelievably good too.
You can also make a hydrating hair mask by mixing two tablespoons of wheatgerm oil with half of a ripe mashed avocado. Apply this hair mask on freshly shampooed hair and allow it to sit for at least 20 minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly and then shampoo your hair.
It is truly shocking just how many people skipped reading the article and just went straight to the comments to ask what advice there was to help them grow their hair. I have to wonder if they are just that lazy or did they assume the better recommendations were being withheld for some reason (which would be a ridiculous thing to do) and the article just gave generic advice? Did they imagine the writer saved the best advice for themselves but it would then be shared if asked about it in a comment? The article and all the comments took me just over 6 minutes to read so it’s no wonder that the school system is being criticized and that there is a definate lag behind other countries when it comes to education. It’s crazy. Have a great day!
Hi Lewis! Thanks for joining the discussion. I have a similar problem in that my hair at the back of my head take longer to grow than the front! I would try the inversion method and concentrate on these areas alone so you’ll be boosting the blood flow around the sides. Make sure you measure your hair before and after to see whether it’s worked on not. Remember, massage those sides every day for five minutes for seven days.
Like many of my follicly challenged brothers, I can remember the exact time I started losing my hair. You may not believe it to look at my proudly gleaming forehead now, but I used to have long hair down to my chin, which I’d often dye black or beautiful, shimmering obsidian, which was the fashion at the time (for people into Linkin Park). Yet, slowly but surely, the long black or shimmering obsidian hairs would start piling up on my pillow every morning, and in an act of defiance against what I considered my own biological inferiority, I shaved it all off, and have had a skinhead ever since.
Hi Selena. Sorry to hear about your suffering with tonsil cancer. It’s great to hear you’re on the mend! You could also try the inversion method to stimulate hair growth. Regrowth hair product also sounds like a good idea. Do let us know how you get on! Thanks, Steph
Any time i use virgin coconut oil on either my hair or scalp..my hair fall out in lumps. I think my fine hair cannot handle oild. I have tried using different oils on and off each time they shed like crazy.
And do I any look any worse? Well, guys don’t care if I’m bald or not. In fact, most guys I know either think I look way harder than I actually am, or come up to me and comment on how they wish they could shave all their hair off but can’t because they have decided to cling on to the dying embers of their hairline.
Hi Maddie, sorry to hear about your split end woes. I can sympathise because my hair can be very weak and often starts splitting after just one use of the hair straighteners! I would suggest getting a proper trim at your hairdressers to get rid of as many dead ends as possible. Then you can start afresh with your new haircare routine. Follow the tips in the article – eat plenty of protein rich foods, use luke warm water, try the inversion method, use a good oil maybe once a week. This should all help improve the condition of your hair if nothing else.
“Sonic hedgehog can convert resting hair into growing hair,” Cotsarelis says. “We really don’t know it’s full role, but if it controls follicle size and growth, it could be something a treatment might be based around.”
About a year ago, I cut my hair into a short pixie cut and while I loved it, it was hard to manage and I soon started to grow it out. It was while I was on my search for hair-growing products, that I was recommended Lee Stafford’s Hair Growth range from a lady in a LUSH shop.
This is for ‘Rain’ You will find fenugreek seeds at any shop that sells Indian Spices. It is an essential in making curry so they sell it by the bucket load. Alternatively, look for a spice shop online. I live in Spain, and I can find it. Good luck, and try making a curry from scratch! Jenna
Hi Meredith. Sorry to hear you were having trouble with your hair. We often forget just how fragile it can be – it’s really important to look after it! I’m so glad to hear our tips have been helping you out. Here’s to many more years of a happy head of hair!
