Hi Laurie, thanks for your questions! Really happy to hear you are going to try the method. There are different ways you can do the inversion method. You can apply the coconut oil to dry, unwashed hair in the evening, leave it on overnight with a cap then wash it out in the morning. If you don’t want to wash your hair every day then you can alternate with the inversion method – one day with oil, one day without and so on. You can even do the inversion method without the oil – or just use the oil once a week. It’s completely up to you. There is no real difference between extra virgin and virgin coconut oil, as far as I am aware – this seems to be just a marketing ploy by companies, but I could be wrong. Thanks for the comments on the article, I’m really pleased you like it. I have written the article purely based on my own personal experience and my hair loss experience and journey. I can’t promise it will work for everyone, but I just wanted to share what did work for me – after years of trial and error! I am impressed with how young people say you look… please feel free to share your secret! I swear by coconut oil and face massage, but those wrinkles around the eyes just keep on comin’!
Science has discovered a little bit about how hair growth is controlled at the cellular level in the body, but not enough to know how we can directly speed up hair growth. Read on to learn about the science behind hair growth and how to use that knowledge for healthier hair.
Confused whole egg or egg whites? Also I have oily hair so I would not want oil on it? And I do have diabetes type 2 now for 10 years and I’m 61. So an answer about the eggs would be nice. And any other comments I would appreciate, Thank You
Blowing dry the hair every day or using heat-styling tools is another way to thin out the hair. Keep in mind that you are pulling on the hair roots and heating the hair shaft. Instead, allow the hair to air-dry and style it with natural methods. Just use the curling iron, hot rollers and blow dryer for special cases only.
Just a thought to all of those posting with thinning hair. First, have a blood test. Be sure your thyroid is not off wack. This solved part of my problem. But, my hair was damaged from weaves and stess. Now my hair is shoulder length, I insist on only 5 foils when I need a bit of a color lift. Hairdressers (if the are good), will do this for you at a reduced rate. On a trip to France I started using L’occitane hair repair shampoo in the hotel. My hair was thicker. Came home and started using their products for damaged hair. Expensive, but worth it. But, better still….I tried the banana & oilve old hair mask a month ago. This is even better (in terms of results) than L’occitane hair products. Now I use the banana, oilve oil hair mask a couple of times a week. It is simple and inexpensive. Forget the hair extensions. I am 65 and my hair is thicker and healthier than it was in my 40’s. I have fine blond hair. I have tried 100′s of products. Some hairdressers over process. (if you ask for a weave, ask for 5 foils, not a partial or full weave) avoid over processing. And, do not use that hot flat iron on your hair.
Thick hair is awesome. You have enough hair to decide whether you want to keep your density, make it look like you have even more, or make it look like you have less. Here are some perfect hairstyles thick hair. We promise you have more options than you think!
The Inversion method. Haha. I did not realize at first how much of an afro it will give you if you massage your scalp for 5 minutes when you have only have 4.5 inches of curly hair. My question is it better to massage it when wet, dry or with oils?
Some advice that I would give is that this haircut works best with thick hair. Also, make sure to go to the right person to cut your hair because it has to be well proportioned depending on a your face shape and structure.
It is truly shocking just how many people skipped reading the article and just went straight to the comments to ask what advice there was to help them grow their hair. I have to wonder if they are just that lazy or did they assume the better recommendations were being withheld for some reason (which would be a ridiculous thing to do) and the article just gave generic advice? Did they imagine the writer saved the best advice for themselves but it would then be shared if asked about it in a comment? The article and all the comments took me just over 6 minutes to read so it’s no wonder that the school system is being criticized and that there is a definate lag behind other countries when it comes to education. It’s crazy. Have a great day!
Massaging your scalp regularly with cold-pressed castor oil is one of the easiest ways to get thicker hair naturally. Due to its high viscosity, it coats the hair thoroughly and protects against hair fall. Plus, being high in vitamin E and fatty acids, it promote hair growth.
A keen money-saver and fan of all things natural, Anushka enjoys making her own beauty products and is partial to a bit of crafting. Never short of a clever tip or two, she’s always looking for new ways to make her money go even further.
Another option is to mix together one egg yolk, one tablespoon of a hair oil of your choice and two tablespoons of water. Use this mixture to massage your scalp thoroughly. Follow this remedy once a week to enjoy thicker hair.
If you’re using heat tools every day whether that be hot irons or the hair-dryer, try to cut down on using them while you are doing the Inversion Method. Heat can weaken your hair so even just alternating or going an extra day without heat can dramatically improve the condition of your hair.
– Don’t keep your hair out, ponytailed, or in a bun every day. Keep hair clean and use good oil in hair. After completing those steps, braid you hair. Many people wash their hair and braid it when it’s still wet, don’t do that because you hair will smell, you might also lose hair, and etc.
Most of the factors that control hair growth are out of our day-to-day control. The best step you can take is to prevent hair loss and thinning due to poor nutrition. Be sure to eat a balanced diet and stay hydrated. Check in with your doctor if you feel that you are experiencing significant hair loss.

How long the anagen phase lasts depends on how long your hair is and if the cells in your follicle base are continuing to multiply and become hair cells. Hair grows because matrix cells shed some of their structure as they reach the upper follicle. The shed structure combines with keratins to form hair strands that exit your skin’s surface.

Experimental evidence suggests that oxidative stress plays a major role in the aging process. Reactive oxygen species or free radicals are highly reactive molecules that can directly damage cellular structural membranes, lipids, proteins and DNA.
Hi Meredith. Sorry to hear you were having trouble with your hair. We often forget just how fragile it can be – it’s really important to look after it! I’m so glad to hear our tips have been helping you out. Here’s to many more years of a happy head of hair!
The overall styling is for any woman on the go. By having waves instead of curls, it never looks like it lost its look as it loosens through the day. The layers take out weight and add movement, creating the texture which is all the rage right now!
Hi I had the same problem as you and I have to tell you….you have to stop using shampoo and cut the dead parts of your hair off or little by little cut and inch off every two months. For shampoo, use egg white and yolk but separate them into different bowls first. take an electric beater and beat the egg white until it is extremly foamy and theres almost no liquid left…mostly “bubbles” and then add in the yolk and beat until well blended. massage this into every inch of your hair everyday and if you’re afraid of the smell use a drop of essential oil. for conditioner mix a ratio half conditioner and half raw honey but honestly you dont need conditioner after what I tell you. Also when washing out eggs wash out with ice cold water otherwise eggs will be cooked in the hair. The next treatment is proven to work and should only be done if you have no health problems whatsoever. Heat up oliive oil, coconut oil, or rosemary oil. no other oil will work and massage on scalp and ends until everything is covered in oil but not soaked in oil. dip you head upside down for four minites and then do whatever you want but leave the oil in your hair for 2 hours and then wash it out with the egg. Leave egg mixture on hair until it dries and then rinse out. YOU MUST NOT USE SHAMPOO and also OLIVE OIL TREATMENT EVERYDAY FOR A WEEK. NO LONGER THAN THAT AND THEN AFTER A WEEK OF BREAK REPEAT THE OLIVE OIL. your hair will grow 3-4 inches in a week if done right
In my experience egg is pretty much a shampoo and I wouldn’t reccomend using shampoo. I’d recommend rinsing your egg filled hair in cold water and using conditioner after for fragrance. I personally don’t get a bad egg smell when I use no shampoo and just conditioner. Also when using oil I like to oil it over night then wash using an egg or two. Then condition, no shampooing. Shampoo is bad for your hair
“Just dampen it a little bit, not so much that it’s supersopping wet—you don’t want There’s Something About Mary stiff hair,” says Santiago. “But a small amount of spray helps seal the cuticles, takes away some of the static, and keeps all the hair together. Start your brushing underneath your hair, as opposed to the top of your head—that will help you avoid crunchy-looking strands too.”
The acid in oranges helps break apart residue left from hair products. These residues may interfere with hair growth. Unlike some of the other treatments, orange puree has a pleasant scent that makes the treatment more enjoyable.
Sure, snapping a hair tie (or two) every time you try to pull your hair up into a ponytail will understandably make your friends, family, co-workers, and the stranger standing next to you in the public bathroom mirror envious that you have thick, long strands. But, is your hair actually thick or do you just have a lot of it, and how important is it to know the difference?
The drug was actually originally designed to treat transplant patients, to suppress transplant rejection and autoimmune diseases. Known officially as Cyclosporine A (CsA), it has been commonly used since the 1980s, and does, unfortunately, have many side effects. One of the least serious – but most interesting – of these is the fact that it can sometimes cause unwanted hair growth.
Hi, is was wondering if you have any further recommendations that aren’t listed in the previous reading? I’m trying to get my hair to grow six inches in less then 3 months so I was hoping you might have a further explinination or list of foods that might benafit my hair? Reply soon:D
well I used the egg once today and im not joking but my hair grew a little bit, I love this trick now but it stinks like hell and it kinda dries your skin too, if you ever get it on your skin at least.
I know this is not really part of the article, but if my hair has lots of split ends that reaches to my scalp, do I have no choice but to chop it off? My hair is at shoulder length and it has been like that for 2 years and it’s the same length. My hair is not that fried but it’s pretty damaged. I did the unthinkable and I chopped off the side hairs underneath to let them grow healthy and fresh again. It kinda looks stupid now but will this help me of getting the short hairs long again? Any tips?
I have also started the regimen based on your answer; however, I’ve applied the rosemary oil topically. I’ve heard that ingesting essential oils could be harmful, especially if they’re not labeled “therapeutic”. Do you have any comments, opinions or research regarding this?
If the smell of Johnson’s No More Tangles triggers PTSD flashbacks to your childhood, you know what’s up. Thick hair means knots that are tied with Boy Scout–level strength. Forcing a comb or paddle brush through it is time-consuming and hair-ruining.
I started eating Chia seeds and I have been amazed at how thick my hair has come in at the age of 56. 2 TBLS. a day soaked in liquid first. Read on the web all the wonderful things Chia seeds can do! IT’S ALL TRUE!!
Avoid applying essential oils directly to your skin. You can dilute the oil with a few drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil. Two other oils that may help include rosemary and peppermint oil. While the trials have been animal studies, results suggest that these oils may benefit hair growth.
