The anagen phase is known as the growth phase. This is the phase where the hair physically grows approximately 1 cm per month. It begins in the papilla and can last from two to six years. The span at which the hair remains in this stage of growth is determined by genetics. The longer the hair stays in the anagen phase, the longer it will grow. During this phase, the cells in the papilla divide to produce new hair fibers[contradictory], and the follicle buries itself into the dermal layer of the skin to nourish the strand. About 85% – 90% of the hairs on one’s head are in the anagen phase at any given time
If you’re using heat tools every day whether that be hot irons or the hair-dryer, try to cut down on using them while you are doing the Inversion Method. Heat can weaken your hair so even just alternating or going an extra day without heat can dramatically improve the condition of your hair.
If this could be developed into an effective treatment, then it could have a significant impact on those suffering from hair loss, which for many can cause psychological and mental distress. Currently, treatment is very limited, with patients either having to take one of two drugs – minoxidil and finasteride – or go under the knife and get a hair transplant. While the latter is often quite successful, it is obviously quite invasive, while the two drugs often have mixed results.
To put it plainly, thick refers to the actual width of a single strand of hair, while density is how closely packed the hair follicles are on your scalp. Hair can have high density, which is when there’s a lot of strands growing near each other, or have low density, which is when the follicles are more spaced out on the scalp. Usually, straight strands tend to be denser than tight curls or afro hair.
Adopting the ayurvedic beauty practice of Bhringraj oil could be beneficial, too. Bhringraj is oil made of Eclipta Alba and sesame, which can be bought at an Indian store or can also be made at home. Eclipta Alba has been used for centuries and in studies has been shown to be an effective growth promoter.
Hi Paru, sorry to hear about this! I know it can be especially troubling. Please follow the tips and advice found in the article, it would be great if you could include protein rich food in your diet and also try the inversion method. Good luck,I hope it works for you.
Too much protein can affect your kidneys. It may also cause your hair to become brittle, although this is rare. It’s best to get protein from your diet and not supplements. You can get protein from vegetables, nuts, yogurt, and other foods.

“Two-thirds of men do get acceptable hair growth — moderate to very good hair growth,” Andrew Kaufman, MD, tells WebMD. Kaufman, a hair-transplant surgeon, is assistant professor of clinical dermatology at UCLA, and medical director of the Center for Dermatology Care, Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Hi Vinita, yes hair specialists do say you shouldn’t wash every day but everyone is different. Some days I do wash my hair every day butI try to cut it down to every other day. I would suggest using the oil on days when you want to wash your hair the next morning, and simply omit the oil on days when you do not want to wash your hair. You can do the inversion method without oil too – I hope that helps 🙂
This style of bob is meant to be styled daily and is not meant for wash and go. It is great for anyone trying to grow out a shorter cut or someone wanting to try out short hairstyles, but isn’t ready to commit to a pixie hairstyle!

I’ve been trying to get my hair to lengthen and thicken, I’ve not heard of the gelatin so I’ll be trying that, my hairdresser suggested taking silica tablets, I got mine from Holland &Barratt they were half price, when I ordered which was a bonus. I’ve been taking them a month now, I must say my hair looks to be stronger and in much better condition
Hi Beth, it really depends on how thick and long your hair is. I use around half a teaspoon and I have mid-length hair to my shoulders. A little goes a long way though so I would just add a few drops/amounts at a time and massage in. You can always add more.

Hi there, I use a ruler or a tape measure. I take some hairs from the front, side and back and measure them separately and note them down. Just pull your hair a little taught and then measure the entire strand – you might want some help from a friend!

Hi Mastuh. We don’t have any experience with Sulfur 8, so can’t advise on this. We prefer other natural methods, such as the inversion method and using coconut oil. Please follow the instructions in the blog post for guidance using the inversion method. I hope this helps 🙂
I’ve heard before that you can use Vitamin E oil in shampoo in your hair to help it detangle and I’ve also heard that you can use it on a scar or something like that in order to thin the blood a little and make it heal faster so that would definitely help blood flow, so if there’s no other underlying medical issues do you think it would be okay to use Vitamin E oil mixed with coconut oil for the inversion method to induce more blood flow to the hair follicles
I’m trying to grow my hair long as I recently cut my hair and realised that even after one month it didn’t grow. I’m definitely going to try this method out and I’ll come back and tell you if it’s working!
Some of the common factors contributing to thinning hair are excessive physical or emotional stress, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, pollution, allergies, use of wrong hair care products, poor hair care routine, and heredity.
Hi Siana, great questions. From what I know and have read, the scalp massage helps increase blood circulation to the hair follicles. The pressure applies warms the skin and open up the blood vessels to increase flow and boost circulation, but the results are diminished if this is done every day. It should be done in short bursts – for example for seven day then break for 3 weeks – if you want to see rapid growth. If you perform scalp massage every day then I don’t think this will damage your hair particularly, but it may encourage hairs to fall out depending how vigorously you massage your scalp. I hope this helps!
This form of hair loss can also be associated with other medical conditions like coronary heart disease and prostate problems for men, as well as hormonal imbalances in women, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Traction alopecia is caused by adding too much strain on the hair on one’s head. Tight ponytails and other styles that require added tension to the hair are often what cause this disease. It can also occur on the face in areas where the hair is often styled. Plucking or waxing one’s eyebrows frequently, for example, can yield suppressed hair growth in the area.
This haircut is short on the sides and in the back. The back is cut in a way that emphasizes the roundness of the head, giving it a beautifully feminine profile. The top is layered long as it starts out shorter in the back and quickly gets longer towards the front.
The researchers, from the University of Manchester, first latched onto an old immunosuppressive drug, cyclosporine A, used since the 1980s to prevent transplant organ rejection and reduce symptoms of autoimmune disease.
