When your hair is dry, do a dry brush from the head downward once every day. Use a wooden bristle brush that stimulates the scalp and pulls the natural oils produced at the top of the head down to the ends. This will naturally hydrate your hair.
Hi E.H. The inversion method can dramatically increase the rate of hair growth, however, results vary from person to person. I’d say it will take a few months at least to grow your hair back, but it would take much longer without the inversion method! Good luck 🙂
Hi there, sorry to hear that. I’m afraid I don’t know too much about this condition, but scalp massage will certainly helps stimulate the follicles. Please give it a go and see how you get on, if in any doubt though please see a doctor for professional help.
Hi! I recently have gotten a shoulder length hair cut and although I love it, I miss my long hair. I have been doing the inversion method for about a week and it doesn’t seem to be doing much. I hope to try and grow it 7 inches by April (it is now October.) Could I be doing something wrong? Thank you!
The Holy Grail of hair-loss treatment is getting shutdown follicles to regenerate. That’s what Cotsarelis’s lab is working on. Already they’ve made a major breakthrough: They’ve learned how to manipulate these stem cells in the test tube.
Secondly, I learned to carefully read the labels when purchasing shampoos, conditioners, and styling products—making sure ingredients are chemical-free and made without soap agents or perfumes. These can play a role in inflammation and produce excessive sebum, which clogs the pores on the scalp and suffocates the hair follicle.
It’s definitely a color style that looks best on medium to long hair. Balayage always looks best when styled with loose, full-bodied waves. Use a color safe shampoo and conditioner to ensure that your color will last longer. And for those fun beachy waves, I’m a huge fan of all the Amika and Kenra products.
Hi I have followed the inversion method and massaged coconut oil into m hair 2 times a week… My hair grew 2.5 inches within 2 months of continuous routine. Thank you soooo much. These tips realy are true!!!!!
Anyway, I realize that many men my age or younger suffer from hair loss but I find myself really distraught about how I look and this affects my self confidence and my mood almost on a daily basis. I really would like to know if indeed there is a nutritional regiment that you could develop that I could follow that really would help with my thinning hair.
I had already been taking zinc and biotin, so we’re on the exact same path. However, I’ve added pumpkin seed oil based on Axe’s article. So far, things are going well (it’s been two months), my barber says he sees an improvement and is atonished at the overall rate of growth of my hair (I have to go weekly for haircuts). I have seen in the studies that it takes about 6 months before Rosemary oil starts showing dramatic effects.
Wear a swim cap in chlorinated pools. Have you ever had a stylist ask you if you’re a swimmer? Chlorine stays in hair and makes it visibly dry and damaged. Protect your hair in the pool, or be sure to wash it with a good shampoo before the chlorine dries.
The growth of human hair occurs everywhere on the body except for the soles of the feet, the lips, palms of the hands, some external genital areas, the navel, scar tissue, and, apart from eyelashes, the eyelids. Like skin, hair is a stratified squamous keratinized epithelium made of multi-layered flat cells whose rope-like filaments provide structure and strength to the hair shaft.
The researchers found that of the nine patients with iron deficiency anemia, eight had telogen hair loss. The mean ferritin (a protein in the body that binds to iron) level was statistically significantly lower in patients with diffuse telogen hair loss than in subjects without hair loss. The study suggests that women with an iron deficiency are at a higher risk of hair loss, and serum ferritin levels below or equal to 30 milligrams/milliliter are strongly associated with telogen hair loss. Ever since I was a teenager I’ve been some what follically changed with a very sluggish hair growth cycle. This is caused by a combination of genetics, over-styling and a low iron count, and my hair can go through phases of struggling to grow new hair so it needs a helping hand every now and then.
Most of the factors that control hair growth are out of our day-to-day control. The best step you can take is to prevent hair loss and thinning due to poor nutrition. Be sure to eat a balanced diet and stay hydrated. Check in with your doctor if you feel that you are experiencing significant hair loss.
Hi Nalanie. We’re happy to hear you’ll be giving the inversion mehtod a go, and thank you for your question. The inversion method should be done for 1 week, with 2 weeks break, then repeated. I hope this helps 🙂

One of the best things you can take is aloe vera juice. The benefits of aloe vera include its healing effects on skin and wounds. Within the aloe vera juice are polysaccharides that aid your body in healing cuts fast, including both internally or externally. In fact, in 2009, a systematic review summarized 40 studies involved using aloe vera for dermatological purposes.
I started eating Chia seeds and I have been amazed at how thick my hair has come in at the age of 56. 2 TBLS. a day soaked in liquid first. Read on the web all the wonderful things Chia seeds can do! IT’S ALL TRUE!!
Hi Allys. The inversion method is free and easy to do! Sit down with your head between your legs, and massage your scalp for 10 minutes a day. By the end of the week, you should already have noticed a dramatic increase in length. I hope this helps 🙂
I always had a good head of hair until my doctor put me on Lipitor to lower cholestrol. My hair got very thin and I didn’t link the problem right away to Lipitor. I started to wonder what new thing was I doing? I decided to call my pharmacist to ask about some side effects. Sure enough, one of the side effects was baldness in spots (alopicia arearta). I stopped the Lipitor and my hair stopped falling out. My hair never really came back to what it was though. However, my hair absolutely stopped thinning after throwing away the Liitor. I have now since dicovered that Liitor has been taken off the market. Within 3 years after this problem, my doctor put me on Avapro for high B pressure. My hair started to thin once again. It was falling out! I don’t know if the Avapro was the culperate, but I certainly got off that perscribed drug. I’m doing natural remedies to lower my blood pressure with a healthy natural diet. I am going to try the amla powder with the coconut oil and hope for the best. I’ll let you guys know if it works.
can sulfur 8 be helpful when growing your hair? The reason why I ask is because last month, I bought some to help me grow my hair out & How must I do the inversion method? Should I use oil & other things when doing it or no?
I know this is not really part of the article, but if my hair has lots of split ends that reaches to my scalp, do I have no choice but to chop it off? My hair is at shoulder length and it has been like that for 2 years and it’s the same length. My hair is not that fried but it’s pretty damaged. I did the unthinkable and I chopped off the side hairs underneath to let them grow healthy and fresh again. It kinda looks stupid now but will this help me of getting the short hairs long again? Any tips?
“The key for the mass production of HFGs was a choice of substrate materials for the culture vessel,” Professor Junji Fukuda, of Yokohama National University, said in the study. “We used oxygen-permeable dimethylpolysiloxane (PDMS) at the bottom of culture vessel, and it worked very well.”
If you guys want really thick hair in about 2 months (depending on your hair composition like porosity, texture, and oil levels) I suggest using herbs like rosemary, powdered oak, and nutmeg for oily hair, oils like cactus oil, castor oil, olive oil, and sesame oil for dry hair, and a hair mask of 1 egg white, full onion, and 2 tbs olive oil blended together for normal hair!
I am a natural blonde, when in high school, I used to put a dab of castor oil on each eye, of course, lightly rubbing it into the lashes, It took around 2 months and my lashes grew darker, longer so that when I applied mascara, it actually looked like I had fake lashes. My girlfriends , let alone me, could hardly believe it, but sure worked for me.
Hair follicles are highly sensitive to hormones, and vitamin D is a hormone that plays an important role in calcium homeostasis, immune regulation and cell growth differentiation. In the scientific world, it’s well-known that alopecia areata is commonly found in patients with vitamin D deficiency, vitamin D-resistant rickets or vitamin D receptor mutation. (9)
I have a mental disorder that causes me to pull my hair when i’m stressed out or when i have really bad anxiety. I’m wondering if these methods would work. i’m deciding to shave my hair off completely so i can grow even together. but would the methods work?

Eat omega-3 foods like salmon, mackerel, tuna, white fish, sardines, egg yolks, walnuts, hemp seeds and natto to reduce inflammation and balance hormones. If you don’t eat enough omega-3 foods, take one to two capsules or one tablespoon of a top-notch fish oil supplement to help reduce inflammation that causes hair disorders. If you already take blood-thinning medications, including aspirin, speak to your health care provider before using fish oil because it may increase bleeding.
