Hi Maddie, sorry to hear about your split end woes. I can sympathise because my hair can be very weak and often starts splitting after just one use of the hair straighteners! I would suggest getting a proper trim at your hairdressers to get rid of as many dead ends as possible. Then you can start afresh with your new haircare routine. Follow the tips in the article – eat plenty of protein rich foods, use luke warm water, try the inversion method, use a good oil maybe once a week. This should all help improve the condition of your hair if nothing else.
Your scrunchie-busting hair can be a hazard: One of our editors had an elastic fail dramatically while on a date. Her cascading waves would have had that sexy librarian-letting-her-hair-down vibe if the errant hair tie hadn’t ended up in the dude’s wine glass.
I read your 6 vitamin for hair growth. My age is 26. My hair is very thin. I go to doctor and doctor suggest me my problem is cronical alopecia. And this problem can not over come. I am very much up set. Day to day my hair is totally lost. My scalp is showing to every body. I very much tenced. My hair is only fall but not growth. Please help me doctor.
A 2015 study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology evaluated the effects of a six-month supplementation with omega-3, omega-6 and antioxidants on hair loss. In the randomized, comparative study, 120 healthy female subjects with female pattern hair loss participated. The primary endpoint was the change in hair density evaluated on standardized photographs, and the secondary endpoint included changes in active hair follicle percentage and diameter distribution of hair growth.
Hi there Twinkle, Sorry to hear you’re frustrated with your hair. I know how it feels when all you want is it to grow yet it’s going nowhere! Have you tried the Inversion Method yet? It takes a bit of effort, but it worked wonders for me and I’m sure it could for you too. I hope this helps. 🙂
Medical conditions. Thyroid disease, lupus, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, eating disorders, and anemia can cause hair loss. Most times, when the underlying condition is treated, the hair will return unless there is scarring as in some forms of lupus, lichen planus or follicular disorders.
Hello Dr thanks for the info .Now I got lot of hopes. But the doubt is the rosemary oil and cedar wood of it is enough to get rid From Hari loss ? I am 21 years old but continues hair losses from the age of 18.is there is any powerful remedies…..thank u
Olive oil is full of what your hair and skin need to stay healthy and vibrant. Keeping a bottle of olive oil and in the bathroom is highly recommended. People have been using olive oil for years to promote thicker hair and healthy skin. Olive oil contains the omega-3 fatty-acids that your hair needs to become thicker.
Hi there, thank you ever so much for sharing your tips for healthy hair growth. It all sounds very, very good. I’m really interested in hair growth, especially after I too cut my hair into a short pixie cut! Food really is the key to growing healthy hair, almonds and avocados are both delicious and boost your hair growth. You should also try getting some broccoli into your diet if you haven’t already. Please do try the scalp massage, it really can work on some people! Thanks again for sharing.
Male Pattern Hair Loss — Male pattern hair loss is also known as androgenic alopecia. This is the most common type of hair loss in men, and one major cause is genetics or having a family history of baldness. Research suggests that it’s associated with androgens, which work to regulate hair growth. (17)
About the inversion method, why can you only do it for a week? I am looking to grow my hair out and am wondering if you can do it for several weeks for more length. Also, does this method generally seem to work with growing brand new hairs, or just current hairs?
You want to open pores to clean your scalp which luke warm water will do, then close the cuticles which will help reduce hair loss and frizz. So ensure you finish washing your hair with a blast of cold water.
Wow, that’s the height of stupidity and ignorance. Firstly, hair is extremely porous, so oil, eggs, juice of onion or pastes like amla will absolutely heal both scalp and hair follicle. Second, eyebrows and eyelashes can start to fall and skin can begin to become stressed out from too much washing or facial scrubbing. Last, it is universally acknowledged that daily hair washing is not desirable and contributes to hair loss. Where did you get your information???
When applied over the scalp, rosemary oil is believed to increase cellular metabolism that stimulates hair growth. A 2013 study conducted at Kinki University in Japan found that rosemary leaf extract improved hair regrowth in mice that experienced hair regrowth interruption induced by testosterone treatment. hi Jenna, where did you buy fenugreek seeds in Spain? I’m living in Valencia Spain, I’m looking for this for a long time and I can’t find, I don’t know where to buy, could you please tell me where to buy…thanks
If this could be developed into an effective treatment, then it could have a significant impact on those suffering from hair loss, which for many can cause psychological and mental distress. Currently, treatment is very limited, with patients either having to take one of two drugs – minoxidil and finasteride – or go under the knife and get a hair transplant. While the latter is often quite successful, it is obviously quite invasive, while the two drugs often have mixed results.
My hair is so thin, it’s embarrassing!! I have a bunch of split ends, it’s frizzy, and WAY TOO THIN! I condition it everytime I wash it, (which at the most is every other day, i know that’s bad), I hardly ever use heat, seriously like NEVER! I always just put it in a braid or a ponytail. But it’s just too thin. What REALLY works? And what is the routine and details that I should use?
This is certainly the single most informative site on hairloss and logical steps on how to reverse it. God bless you for giving me hope that this can be reversed. I am definitely changing my diet and focus my efforts on balancing hormones. Thank you for the excellent presentation of info as well as it’s easy flow with logical inferences / conclusions. Your writing style was so refreshing because it was not bombastic!
Hi Erin, so to hear you’ve had a bit of a hair nightmare. I once cut my hair into a pixie cute and it took a long time to grow it back to the style I originally had. I suggest you follow the advice in this article to help grow your hair quicker. The inversion method worked for me so let me know how you get on with that. You just need to massage your hair daily for 7 days alternating with coconut oil. Good luck!
DR. Axe. I need to thank you for a article you published 3-4 months ago on hair loss. Before reading your article, I tried every supplement out there. Nothing helped. I always had thick hair and for about a year the fallout loss was getting so bad I thought I would have nothing left at all. I hope some of the guys here try what has worked for me. I use Rosemary Oil (organic) mixed with Green Tea before I go to bed.(hour or 2 before). I drink 2 cups and it works for me. During the day I take Biotin and Zinc also. Guys, try this and let us know if it worked for you also.

I would live to get advice on thicker hair, lighter eyes, longer eyelashes, facial tips and removing dark circles under eyes. Any and all health and healthy beauty tips. I enjoyed reading your tips would live to have it emailed to me. Thanks in advance.
Hi there…sorry to hear that! I like to alternate with the oils. I wash my hair every other day, so when I’m not washing my hair I do the inversion method without any oil and then when I am washing my hair the next morning I will use coconut oil when massaging and leave it overnight. You can adapt the method to suit your needs, for example if you only wash your hair once a week then you can use coconut oil just once, but still do the inversion the rest of the days without oil. I hope that makes sense!
i also have done hair smoothing because my hair was very curly and very short (about 9inch only ) but doing a proper haircare and these remedies help me to grow my hair faster(now my hair is35inch long)
Hi Katelyn.Your natural rate of hair growth will determine whether or not this will be achievable. Following our tips in the article will definitely help you speed things up a bit, and give you the best chance at getting the shoulder length hair you’re after 🙂
Studies are still new on the effects of caffeine on hair growth, but a cell study found that caffeine may have growth-promoting effects on hair. Using hair products with caffeine, like this shampoo by AB Crew, as an ingredient may help.
Hi Lou – I’m willing to try and then report back on your ‘script of Rosemary oil and green tea. By your description, it sounds like you put drops of the oil into the tea and ingest both. Please clarify this, and please indicate how many drop of rosemary oil. Thanks!
Hi Sandra. I’d really recommend trying the inversion method, as it honestly works a treat. None of these ingredients will damage your hair, but perhaps your sheets! Why not try using the coconut oil alone first, as recommended in the article, and see how you get on? I hope this helps 🙂

Hair loss won’t usually feel like much when it’s happening. But sometimes it can be a warning sign of a larger health issue, especially if there’s scarring on the scalp. Women with hair loss who notice other changes in their bodies, like a drop in their voice or more acne, might want to get checked out by a doctor.
This haircut is short on the sides and in the back. The back is cut in a way that emphasizes the roundness of the head, giving it a beautifully feminine profile. The top is layered long as it starts out shorter in the back and quickly gets longer towards the front.
Autoimmune disease may cause alopecia areata. In alopecia areata, the immune system revs up for unknown reasons and affects the hair follicles. In most people with alopecia areata, the hair grows back, although it may temporarily be very fine and possibly a lighter color before normal coloration and thickness return.
To boost hair growth, add iron-rich foods into your diet every day. Eat plenty of spinach, Swiss chard, collard greens, egg yolks, beef steak, navy beans and black beans. Because an iron deficiency may lead to hair loss, ensure that you get your daily recommended amount by eating plenty of iron-rich foods and taking a daily multivitamin.

Broccoli is one of the most important greens you can eat and it’s also a fantastic superfood, essential for hair health and growth. As well as Vitamin A and C it also contains essential B vitamins that are needed for strong hair. The antioxidants in broccoli, particularly vitamin C also prevent hair loss by eliminating the free radicals,  contributing to healthier and thicker hair.
Hi Kayla, thanks for your comments. It’s definitely possible to improve the quality and health of your hair on a limited budget, in my article you’ll find a few different ways to boost hair growth and make your hair stronger. Firstly it’s important to eat plenty of Biotin-rich foods such as eggs, almonds, pecans, walnuts, milk, salmon and avocado. Scalp massage will help boost the blood flow and promote hair growth, you can read more about this in the article, and finally oils definitely help. I do like argan oil, but I prefer raw coconut oil. I hope this helps!
Didn’t we tell you to be careful of layers? They can hurt as much as they help. Case in point: In an attempt to take out some of your massive hair’s weight and girth, a stylist chomped at your locks with one of these tools, leaving them frizzier and damaged.
