Coconut oil saved my scalp AND my hair! Everybody should try the ingredients and methods this article mentions! I used to have a very itchy scalp and my hair was very dry and brittle, due to the fact that I was on and off the swim team for a good decade, so spending one – two hours in chlorine really showed on my hair, and then of course the Saturday swim meets we had every week, doesn’t really help! I went for a good year (at the end of 2015, up to September 2016) dying my hair all kinds of colors every two months, and this did show as well. My hair also grew very slow due to how unhealthy it was. I started doing coconut oil masks (with yoghurt and honey) once a week (on and off for three months) and my hair has grown close to two inches, in three months! My hair feels sososososo much better ever since I started taking care of it and it has shown! My boyfriend’s mother used to be a hair stylist and she said a couple weeks ago that my hair looks better than ever, and this is only month three of my hair care journey! I plan on getting a perm done hopefully by September of next year, hoping that these treatments can get my hair is top shape before I kill it off again. But yeah, coconut oil is pretty much my safe haven to all my hair problems! Especially the itchy scalp problem. I was AMAZED that my scalp didn’t itch 30 minutes later, the night I put the coconut oil mask in my hair… it hasn’t itched since! (Now given, every now and then it does, but it isn’t a constant pain anymore!) and head massages actually FEEL GOOD to me now. They used to feel weird to me but now I do it every time I get out of the shower. I don’t always do the inversion method, but I do massage my scalp a lot now. I’m surprised I’ve been so committed to getting my hair in top shape, as it takes a lot for me to be committed to anything lol let alone DEDICATED. People do need to try the inversion method, and even just massaging your scalp when you get done showering… I swear I can feel my scalp warm up after a good minute or two of massaging it. That my friend, is magic lol.
I will definitely be trying this advice. My hair is currently at my waist, but my man would love for it to reach my ankles lol. My issues are dry brittle hair that also falls out easily. I love extremely hot showers and am certainly not looking forward to the cold rinse, but if it does nothing but stop it from falling out so easy, it’s definitely worth a try. Thanks for the advice. My hair actually changes color. It is sometimes red, sometimes brown, and sometimes blond. I don’t know what color it is. It’s naturally very curly, but not ringlets, spirals. It is very, very, soft. It’s not thick or thin. But ever since I was a child I wanted really, really long hair. But it always stops and gets course once it’s a centimeter above my elbow. It just always stops. Wear a swim cap in chlorinated pools. Have you ever had a stylist ask you if you’re a swimmer? Chlorine stays in hair and makes it visibly dry and damaged. Protect your hair in the pool, or be sure to wash it with a good shampoo before the chlorine dries.

Also want to ask 1 question that whenever I massage my hair and wash it. Hair falls out a lot (lot means lot) is that normal? Hi Sarah. It sounds like you achieved really great results with your hair growth. The problem is that hair needs regular maintenance, or else the ends will become unhealthy and split. I’d recommend you to get it cut regularly (a small trim every 2 months) from now on. I hope this helps 🙂

Hi Julia, sorry to hear that. For the time being I would try not to concentrate on hair growth and more about treating your hair well and getting it back to good health. I would eat plenty of protein-rich foods, treat your hair to a weekly hair mask on the ends and gentle scalp massage. Try not to use any heated tools on your hair, and wash it using lukewarm water – avoid burning hot water – and your hair should be feeling better soon.

Hi Meredith. It sounds to me like the chlorine is definitely damaging your hair. Are you using a water-tight cap when swimming? Additionally, are you having it cut regularly? Chlorine will damage your hair, making it more prone to splitting. Regular haircuts will prevent this. There is no need to rinse out the aloe vera (as long as it is pure aloe vera gel). I always massage it into my scalp (and hair) after washing my hair (two times a week). It works great as a leave-in-treatment for scalp and hair – and as a healthy volume-and-moisturizing hair gel!
Hi my name’s Jamee, I’m a 17 year old girl who just graduated from high school. When growing up I was never told of the bad damaging affects of dying my hair so I did it for many years and now for the past 3 years my hair has only grown 2 inches and either breaks off or falls out. My was really good and healthy 3 years ago. with time I started ironing my and using heat a lot so my is thinning its weak and I also feel like its lifeless (although its not).
