I already take biotin every day and it sure does help make my hair thicker and healthier – I will double up for the next week to see if that helps with hair growth. I’ve been taking it for a year and a half when I started growing my hair out from a pixie cut – it’s also great for growing and strengthening your fingernails. I started growing out my hair 18 months ago and now it is to my shoulders which is roughly .75 of an inch per month. I’ve had a few trims to shape it up – my hair was almost shaved above my ears so it was like starting my hair growth from scratch. I also drink a lot of water and eat plenty of almonds & avocados because I like their health benefits and I eat plenty of other fruits and veggies. A good diet is key to hair growth. I changed my diet from lots of pasta, rice and sugar and the difference in how I feel is amazing. So is my hair since I changed my diet. It was very difficult to break old habits and to stay away from most sugars and sweets, but it was well worth it for my hair growth and for how good I feel. For my main meal each day, I eat a huge bowl of raw veggie salad like cucumbers (my fave), carrots, celery, peppers, lettuce (optional), olives, sunflower seeds, nuts or anything else that suits my fancy at the time, covered in a salad dressing that I make from vinegar and olive oil with spices or sometimes I eat them naked sans dressing. 🙂 I also eat a small portion of meat, beans or eggs for protein and usually a slice of good bread, but the veggie salad is the biggest part of my meal. Delish! Not only has this been very beneficial for my hair, I’ve trimmed my down waistline without really trying. I have seen a big difference in my hair since changing my diet. It’s thicker, shinier and healthier than ever! I also use coconut, olive oil or argan oil in my hair from time to time and I will add the scalp massage with oil to see if this will also work – I’m excited to see if I can grow my hair an inch or more in a week!

I know this is not really part of the article, but if my hair has lots of split ends that reaches to my scalp, do I have no choice but to chop it off? My hair is at shoulder length and it has been like that for 2 years and it’s the same length. My hair is not that fried but it’s pretty damaged. I did the unthinkable and I chopped off the side hairs underneath to let them grow healthy and fresh again. It kinda looks stupid now but will this help me of getting the short hairs long again? Any tips?

I will definitely be trying this advice. My hair is currently at my waist, but my man would love for it to reach my ankles lol. My issues are dry brittle hair that also falls out easily. I love extremely hot showers and am certainly not looking forward to the cold rinse, but if it does nothing but stop it from falling out so easy, it’s definitely worth a try. Thanks for the advice. This look is very low maintenance. Because of the Balayage highlight technique I used, she can go three to four months without a touch up because it looks so natural! How do I tell if I am losing hair. My hair used to be really curly and beautiful and really thick . Now just starting a few months ago i have noticed a huge difference in my hair. If the client is wanting a more wavy or curly look, I recommend using a 1 to 1 1/2-inch barrel curling iron. Starting in the front, take vertical sections and curl the hair back and away from the face. Once you reach the back of the head, start on the other side of the head and continue to curl the hair away from the face. Allow the curls to set for a minute, then run your fingers through or brush the curls for a softer, more lived-in look.

I’m really interested in hair growth, especially after I too cut my hair into a short pixie cut! Food really is the key to growing healthy hair, almonds and avocados are both delicious and boost your hair growth. You should also try getting some broccoli into your diet if you haven’t already. The Inversion method. Haha. I did not realize at first how much of an afro it will give you if you massage your scalp for 5 minutes when you have only have 4.5 inches of curly hair. My question is it better to massage it when wet, dry or with oils?

Another option is to mix one-quarter cup of warm water in one-half cup of Indian gooseberry powder and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Apply the paste on your hair and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Do not shampoo your hair for a few hours. Follow this remedy every few weeks.
Hi Emily, thanks for getting in touch. I would definitely do the inversion method using a scalp massager every 4 weeks. I can’t think of anything more to add to the list, but I like to take in Biotin rich foods through a smoothie in the morning as it’s absorbed by your body at a faster rate. I mix a handful of spinach and kale with half a banana, 1/4 avocado, almonds and brazil nuts. I always make sure I eat a protion of brocolli every other day. Some people recommend pumpkin seed oil for hair growth – I have not tried it myself but many blogger swear by it.
Can help u so use olive oil or any type of oil soak the oil in your hair for at least 20-30 min this will prevent no itchy scalp or thin hair wash the oil out or leave it in overnight them wash with a mild shampoo and will be as light as a feather thanks hope this comment/suggestion worked bye xxxxx ??????

Wow, that’s the height of stupidity and ignorance. Firstly, hair is extremely porous, so oil, eggs, juice of onion or pastes like amla will absolutely heal both scalp and hair follicle. Second, eyebrows and eyelashes can start to fall and skin can begin to become stressed out from too much washing or facial scrubbing. Last, it is universally acknowledged that daily hair washing is not desirable and contributes to hair loss. Where did you get your information???

As we discussed earlier, hair begins to grow from the root in the bottom of the follicle which is made up of cells of protein. So to make it simple – we need to eat a protein-rich diet, but for faster hair growth you need need to be making sure you’re eating Biotin-rich foods too in order to facilitate the building blocks of protein.

It was my mother who would regularly apply this on weekends I guess it was an indian practice but I’m glad that she did and now I know the benefits. I can grow 1-1.5 inches per month. To get long thick and super soft hair massage organic coconut oil in to your hair 2-4 times a week (leave in 10-25 mins) wash out with shampoo. do this untill hair is growing and healthy. ( No split-ends ) and reduse to 2-4 times a month.
