So I may be the only male in this section but what the heck. My hairstyle is the very bland side parting/quiff which I’ve had for years now and I just want a change! I get regular haircuts which may be every 2-3 weeks but it seems that if I leave my hair longer than this it just stops growing on the sides especially. Hello, I just found your blog and was interested in your thoughts. My hair seems grows pretty fast, I’ve had it short for the past 4 years and the cut usually gets messy after about 8 weeks. This drives me nuts, previously I always had long hair and found it easier to manage. Now I want to grow it out quickly and I’ve noted your comments on coconut, argon and olive oils but was curious as I’ve seen no one mention cold pressed castor oil. I’ve found this fantastic for my eyelashes and started using it for its rejuvenating and growing properties. I would have thought the properties in it that are useful for lashes ie the nutrients and folicle stimulation would work the same with hair. The cold pressed castor oil seems to be valued higher for eyelash growth than the other three oils that are mentioned here for hair. Just wondering, lol, discuss.

Hello, I have been struggling with my hair for about 4 months now. Back in May I had decided to go back to my natural hair color from being platinum blonde. My natural is an ashy dark dirty blonde. Unfortunately doing it at home was my first mistake, and I ended up with red hair. I went to my old high school which has a salon with students working in it, which was my second mistake. They got my hair to a more manageable color but cut off around 3-4 inches when I only wanted 1 inch off. I was devastated.. and my hair was very very dry and thin and lifeless everywhere except about 5 inches on the top of my head. Since then I have added a lot more blonde highlights to get closer to my natural color as it wasn’t going a weird orange red color from the previous red dye. It has gotten a lot more moisturized and feels much less dry since then, but regardless is still very stringy and lifeless looking and very hard to style and maintain volume. The natural state of my hair has never been very volumous , but when I had bleached it the texture changed and it felt a lot thicker. I desperately want that hair back but cannot bleach my hair in this state.. so the only thing I can really do is grow it all out again till I have my natural 100% hair back to bleach it again , with caution to have minimal damage. I have been taking hairbrush vitamins, a b-complex vitamin, as well as trying to drink more water and eat more of the right foods. I’ve also recently started doing a castor oil and coconut oil leave in treatment, which has made it feel stronger. Do you have any advice for me? I am just so desperate to feel some weight to my hair.. it feels like air when I move my head back and forth and doesn’t even feel like it’s there. I also have parts on the top of my head on the right side that got burned off from bleaching back in January this year, they have grown about 6 inches out now but look very odd and stick out unless I straighten them with light heat. Why egg yolk? Yolk is mostly fats. It may add fatrnmess/soiftness to hair, but if you are after protein (and I am not sure if topical application will actually add to real hair) the albumin is good protein,,,,in a _fresh_ egg….
