Hi Siana, great questions. From what I know and have read, the scalp massage helps increase blood circulation to the hair follicles. The pressure applies warms the skin and open up the blood vessels to increase flow and boost circulation, but the results are diminished if this is done every day. It should be done in short bursts – for example for seven day then break for 3 weeks – if you want to see rapid growth. If you perform scalp massage every day then I don’t think this will damage your hair particularly, but it may encourage hairs to fall out depending how vigorously you massage your scalp. I hope this helps!
One 2012 study found that when people evaluated photos of the same men pictured with and without their hair, they saw the men as “nearly an inch taller and 13% stronger when pictured with shaved heads versus with hair.”
Hi Smita, Great to hear you are going to try the inversion method, let me know how it goes and don’t forget to measure it before and after. I don’t have any pics but I am definitely going to take some the next time I do the inversion method and add them to this post. I also get a lot of hair loss, try massaging very lightly and reduce the amount of times you wash your hair every week. Perhaps try washing your hair every 2 days?
Hi Thahani. We’ve actually never heard of this method before, so can’t speak from personal experience. However it looks like fenugreek seeds would be super nourishing for your hair, so you could give it a go. It definitely won’t do your hair any harm! 🙂
This is for ‘Rain’ You will find fenugreek seeds at any shop that sells Indian Spices. It is an essential in making curry so they sell it by the bucket load. Alternatively, look for a spice shop online. I live in Spain, and I can find it. Good luck, and try making a curry from scratch! Jenna
At some point, the follicle will begin to grow again, softening the anchor point of the shaft initially. The hair base will break free from the root and the hair will be shed. Within two weeks the new hair shaft will begin to emerge once the telogen phase is complete. The process results in normal hair loss known as shedding.
Hi Vinita, yes hair specialists do say you shouldn’t wash every day but everyone is different. Some days I do wash my hair every day butI try to cut it down to every other day. I would suggest using the oil on days when you want to wash your hair the next morning, and simply omit the oil on days when you do not want to wash your hair. You can do the inversion method without oil too – I hope that helps 🙂
More importantly, according to a research about hair benefits of cold water [1] wash the hair with cold water. In fact, hot water can cause your hair to dry out and become brittle. So, washing the hair with cold water in order to help the hair shaft grow healthy, protecting it from damage and breakage.
Another option is to mix one-quarter cup of warm water in one-half cup of Indian gooseberry powder and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Apply the paste on your hair and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Do not shampoo your hair for a few hours. Follow this remedy every few weeks.
Hi Katherine, you don’t have to use coconut oil no. You can use a good hair conditioner or even a touch of olive oil. It makes it easier to massage your scalp, and also provides a good conditioning treatment at the same time.

I asked my Parlour girl to ive front layers instead she as misunderstood my sentence and cut my front hairs to short its nt evn reaching my eye level…..If I see to my hair I fel lk killing myslf…. In addition, I established a beauty regimen that focused on best hair practices and I followed it faithfully for nine whole months. To my delight, not only did I speed up the growth process by a few inches, but I also improved the appearance of my hair from all aspects but specifically its health and feel.
Just thinking about the money I’ve saved on going to the barbers alone makes me weep with a weird, nonsensical pride that I can’t grow my hair any longer than Krusty The Clown-style sidebushes. Every time I need a haircut I just get a mirror and my clippers, and go at it – which is quick, painless and involves zero awkward chat with a hairdresser.
hi. i want to know whether it would be good to massage your head with coconut+olive oil to reopen blocked hair roots?? if it is then how often one should do it in a week?? overnight massaging would be good or not?? khungersumit@gmail.com 9041671357
This look is extremely versatile and complements most face shapes well. It has lots of texture which allows it to be worn well styled or just left alone to dry. The haircut works best for someone with thicker hair and the long fringe is flattering for a prominent forehead or someone who has grey around the hairline and wants to stretch their color a little longer.
I used eggs, and it really worked.first my hairs were so thin and weak so I was so sad but when I started using eggs with 2or3tablespoons of olive oil it worked,I continued the coarse for 2months and it was a miracle!!!!!
“In the last 5 to 7 years there has been a boom in the understanding of hair loss,” Cotsarelis tells WebMD. “We’ve made great strides at the level of basic research. Now the question is how we can convert these findings into clinical benefits. Those kinds of leaps really take decades.”
At first, the sting was persistent and vivid, like getting dumped or supporting Arsenal. But over time, I started to kind of enjoy not having any hair, and am now glad it fell off in the first place. Sure, sometimes I look at people like Antonio Banderas and think “Christ, I’d rock the hell out of a slicked-back ponytail look”, but the arduous upkeep of your barnet – styling products, shampoo, conditioner, haircuts, trying to fit it into certain types of hat without looking stupid – far outweigh being able to rock the hell out of a ponytail, or any kind of hairstyle.
This bob is asymmetric and has a deep side part. The heavier side of the part is layered more to make sure it isn’t too bulky. The lighter side of the part isn’t layered as much since there isn’t as much hair on that side.
Alopecia is a hair loss disease that can occur in anyone at any stage of life. Specifically Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease that causes hair to spontaneously fall out. It is mainly characterized by bald patches on the scalp or other parts of the body, and can ultimately cause baldness across the entire body. This disease interferes with the hair growth cycle by causing a follicle to prematurely leave the anagen, or active growth, phase and enter the resting, or telogen phase. The hair growth in the affected follicles is lessened or stopped completely.

Hi Charity. It sounds like your hair needs some nourishment! All is not lost, though, coconut oil should soon sort you out. I’d recommend using coconut oil a few times a week, regular trims (to keep your hair healthy and from splitting, which will lead to it shortening) and finally the inversion method to stimulate hair growth. I hope this helps 🙂
The Holy Grail of hair-loss treatment is getting shutdown follicles to regenerate. That’s what Cotsarelis’s lab is working on. Already they’ve made a major breakthrough: They’ve learned how to manipulate these stem cells in the test tube.
Hi Mel. The average rate of hair growth is roughly 0.5inches/month so achieving 15 inches in a year and a half is very unlikely. To increase hair growth, be sure to try out tips! I thoroughly recommend coconut oil and the inversion method 🙂
Hi Airyeez, thanks for taking the time to write to me and sharing your thoughts on the article and the tips. I recommend the inversion method a lot (even though I can’t guarantee it will work for everyone) because it’s free, it’s easy to do and it worked for me. I think it’s fairly easy to try out, and there is no cost involved if you do it without oil, so it is my go-to tip! I firmly believe diet is really important too which is why I ask people to follow the tips in the article – some people may not be able to implement all but diet and scalp massage is really beneficial not just for hair growth but healthy hair and body. Good luck with your hair growth, I really hope you’ll notice a difference. Please keep me updated!

Female pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia in women) is characterized by thinning on the top or the center of the head. Female hair loss is generally due to high levels of stress, hormone imbalance, thyroid conditions or toxic exposure. Women are actually most likely to suffer from hair loss due to hormones. Think pregnancy, menopause, birth control pills and other hormonal changes that women so commonly go through. Having polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is another hormonally related health problem that can contribute to hair loss from the scalp but unwanted hair growth in undesirable places.
Hi.. I am suffering from eccessive hair fall. I am taking keraglo eva as suggested by doctor from last one month but its not working. I am getting married in 2 months. Please suggest what should i do to stop hair fall and grow and thicken my hair .
About a year ago, I cut my hair into a short pixie cut and while I loved it, it was hard to manage and I soon started to grow it out. It was while I was on my search for hair-growing products, that I was recommended Lee Stafford’s Hair Growth range from a lady in a LUSH shop.
Honey should be added to everything you create for a DIY mixture. NEVER, EVER , leave it out. It’s like liquid to a very solid, healthy meal. If you truly want to know what’s so great about honey, go to ‘Health Benefits of Honey on Your Face’ by searching it on Google, of course.
Some of the products are hair growth-stimulating shampoos, and others have a more complicated application process that requires you to sit with the product on your head and allow it to work. Do some research to figure out which is right for your needs.
mix 2 egg yolk with 1tsp honey and amla oil or Castor oil, or live oil, apply to your hair and scalp and massage it everywhere put a plastic cap and sit under a hair steamer, and leave the mixture on your head as long as you can, then Shampoo.

Hi there, sorry to hear that. I’m afraid I don’t know too much about this condition, but scalp massage will certainly helps stimulate the follicles. Please give it a go and see how you get on, if in any doubt though please see a doctor for professional help.
